How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign treatment plans require digital impressions of your teeth to be taken so that our team can design your treatment plan and create your first set of custom aligners. We will then have you come in for a quick appointment to try on your first aligner and take the rest home with you. After that, it’s up to you to wear your clear aligners for approximately 20 to 22 hours per day to keep your treatment plan on track. Aligners should be switched out every two weeks for the next aligner in the series. You will also have periodic appointments scheduled so we can assess your teeth and bite and provide you with your next set of clear aligners.

Is Invisalign painful?

Invisalign clear aligners begin working right away, so you can expect to feel a little pain or discomfort for the first few days while your teeth adjust. It’s important to continue wearing your aligners during this adjustment period and only take them off to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. You can try eating cold foods like popsicles to numb your mouth or use dental wax to create a barrier between the aligner and your gums or the inside of your mouth. If the pain persists for over a week or can’t be numbed with over-the-counter pain medication, please let us know so we can make sure your aligner fits correctly.

Is Invisalign expensive?

Invisalign used to be far more expensive than metal braces, and it could only treat mild to moderate malocclusion. Now, Invisalign is comparable to traditional braces in terms of cost, even as the technology has improved. The cost of your Invisalign treatment plan will depend on a variety of factors, and we can provide you with an estimate during your consultation. Our office is in-network with many popular insurance providers, and we also accept payment plans through CareCredit®.
